I am putting together a small set of generated stems for a remote collaborator, and one vocal stem has an intermittent crackle. The musical idea is fine, so I would rather not replace the whole take. In my first pass, I checked the same two bars carefully. For a cleaner reference, I stored an untouched stem in the same folder. My collaborator needs to judge the writing and balance, not spend the first listen wondering whether the roughness is intentional. I have already checked the original export, renamed the versions clearly, and listened through speakers as well as headphones. The noise remains in the same place, although it becomes less obvious at lower levels. My tentative plan is to keep the source stem, make one restrained repair copy, and label the result so nobody mistakes it for a new performance.
